American Addiction Centers is pleased to have been selected by The National Volunteer Fire Council as your new provider of Member Assistance services. Your new Member Assistance Program is a combined effort brought to you by The National Volunteer Fire Council and American Addiction Centers serving all NVFC members and their families.

American Addiction Centers’ Senior Vice President of Business Development and retired Rhode Island Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Blackburn has proudly announced that American Addiction Centers has been chosen by the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to implement the National Fire Services Member Assistance Program sponsored by American Addiction Centers, a comprehensive Member Assistance Program (MAP) for all NVFC members and their families; the first program of its kind for the NVFC since their 1976 inception.

We have set up a toll-free, confidential phone line at 1-888-731-FIRE (3473), where representatives will be on hand 24/7 to provide immediate assistance with member issues like alcohol and drug abuse, psychological problems, various relationship problems and concerns, work-related concerns and virtually anything disrupting a member’s work life and overall wellness. The services provided by American Addiction Centers’ National Fire Services Member Assistance Program come at absolutely no cost to members of the NVFC or their immediate family. Program services are offered by the NVFC as part of the member benefit package.

What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

The Member Assistance Program (MAP) provides confidential counseling, guidance and referral services to help Members and their families manage personal and work-related problems. Generally, people can handle the problems and stresses of everyday life on their own. Sometimes, though, help from a skilled professional, respectful of your privacy, can provide guidance and support.

What kind of help is available at Member Assistance Program?

Crisis intervention, assessment, information and referral services are available for problems which affect your personal and work life. Counselors are available to talk with you about issues such as family and marital difficulties, discuss drug and alcohol problems, mental health concerns and emotional distress.

How does the Member Assistance Program Work?

Representatives are available through a 24-hour toll-free phone line. When you call the toll-free number you may receive immediate help for your problem, or arrangements will be made for you to meet with a counselor in your area. Depending on the nature of your problem, you may receive information about other resources in your community.

Who can use this Member Assistance Program services?

All members and their families are eligible to use the service. Family members include individuals in your immediate household and dependent children living away from home.

How much does Member Assistance Program cost?

The toll-free confidential hotline is provided to NVFC members at no cost to the member or family member. This service is offered by the NVFC as part of the member benefit package. If treatment, counseling or other help is recommended by the Member Assistance Professional, your health benefits may cover some or all of the related costs. Every effort will be made to find quality care within your ability to pay.
