The Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center specializes in providing Residential through Outpatient services for PREGNANT OR PARENTING WOMEN who need treatment
for substance abuse issues. The facility provides accommodations for pregnant women including
partnerships with a community OBGYN who specializes in serving women with addiction issues and Memorial Hospital.

At the Recovery Center, mothers can choose to bring their children with them into treatment or have them remain home, whatever
is better for the family situation. Regardless of whether the mother decides to come into treatment with or without her
children, she will benefit from receiving a comprehensive, woman-focused, individualized treatment program that includes
individual and group counseling on parenting skills. If the children do accompany the mother into treatment, the child(ren)
can also receive individual and group counseling services provided by therapists specializing in play therapy and treatment
of children’s issues.
The Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center (SBARC) provides residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient
services. Individuals and their families are provided a smooth transition from one level of care to the next in a warm
and supportive environment. The length of treatment and the daily schedule are all individualized to meet the person’s
served assessed strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences. Each person served is provided at minimum one time a week
individual therapy. In addition, based upon the individualized assessment, each person served will be provided a group
schedule that best meets her needs. Groups can range in topics. Some examples are: relapse prevention; parenting; trauma;
art therapy; acupuncture; movement and meditation; anger management; interpersonal skills, domestic violence; co-occurring
disorders; spirituality; grief and loss; and self-expressions. Additionally they have available acupuncture two times a week.
The therapeutic processes are based on a cognitive behavioral framework with the use of motivational enhancement and
interviewing in the initial stages of service to improve the responsiveness of the person served to the program. Reviews
of the stage of change for each program participant are also incorporated in the therapeutic process.
In 2010 the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center pursued and achieved
accreditation with CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities). This achievement is an indication of the
organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served.
